Pokemon X and Y Walkthrough: Lumiose City Gym
<- Lumiose City North Walkthrough Index Route 14 ->

The Lumiose City Gym is set up like a game show and Clemont's sister Bonnie is the host. She'll ask a classic "Who's That Pokemon?" question when you step on the yellow square. There are three possible answers, each with a corresponding trainer battle. You can answer incorrectly on purpose to get more experience.

The trainers in this gym specialize in Electric-type Pokemon. Water and Flying-type Pokemon are at a big disadvantage. A good counter-type is Ground because it's completely immune to Electric-type attacks. Dugtrio, Trapinch, and Gible can be found back in Route 13. Diggersby is another good option.

The first answer is 3. Pikachu.

Clemont's Emolga throws a wrench in the works. It's part Flying-type, so it's actually immune to Ground-type attacks. It's also resistant to Fighting moves, whereas Clemont's other two Pokemon are weak to Fighting. Emolga's Static Ability has a chance of paralyzing Pokemon who use physical attacks. It also knows Volt Switch, which deals damage before switching out for another member of the party. It can be an annoying move if you're planning on hitting Emolga with a specific move, only for it to switch to a completely different Pokemon.

Clemont hands out the Voltage Badge and TM 24 Thunderbolt after defeat. Now any Pokemon under level 70 will obey your commands. Professor Sycamore calls you on the Holo Caster when you exit the gym. He wants to meet you at the Lysandre Cafe. Considering how difficult it can be to navigate the city, it might be easiest to use a cab. Inside, Lysandre will share his background and give you a King's Rock. Now it's time to meet Trevor and the gang in Route 14.
