Pokemon X and Y Walkthrough - Coumarine City Gym
<- Coumarine City Walkthrough Index Route 13 ->

Ramos and the members of his gym specialize in Grass-type Pokemon. With the exception of Lotad, all of these Pokemon are weak to Fire-type moves. Many are weak to Flying-type as well. Add that all up and it makes Talonflame perfect for this gym. Many of these Pokemon can inflict status ailments like Paralysis and Poison, so it's a good idea to stock up on healing items.

The gym is filled with ropes you can either climb up or swing on. Start by climbing up the first rope. On the second level, you can go left or right. Going left leads to a dead end, so go right to find a Pokemon Ranger.

Climb up to the third level and work your way left to climb up to the fourth level. The fourth level gives three options: left, right, or up. Going up and right are both dead ends, but the right path leads to a Pokemon Ranger.

Go left from the first platform of the fourth level to find a rope leading down. Follow that path to another battle.

Now the path leads to Ramos, the Coumarine City Gym Leader. Before the battle, make sure your Pokemon are holding items to minimize the damage Jumpluff deals with Acrobatics. If you're using a Fire-type Pokemon then watch out for Gogoat's Bulldoze move, although Talonflame doesn't have to worry because it's immune to Ground-type attacks. Finally, all of his Pokemon know Grass Knot, which deals more damage to heavier targets. Check the weight of your Pokemon and plan accordingly.

Ramos awards you the Plant Badge after defeat. It makes all Pokemon up to level 60 obey your commands. It also lets you use Fly outside of battle to quickly travel through Kalos. He also gives you TM 86 Grass Knot. A lot of non-Grass-type Pokemon can learn this move. For example, Delphox can learn Grass Knot to do super-effective damage against Water-type Pokemon.

Slide down to the ground level and travel south to Route 13.
