70 HP: This amount of HP isn't the best for a Stage 1, the ideal amount would be 80+. You can still work with 70, though. Gold Berry will usually work, but don't count on it. I suggest Focus Band. Pollen Shield: For a colorless energy you do 10 damage...not good, but this isn't the attack you want to use to take down your opponents Pokemon. Of couse not becoming Poisoned/Burned is definatly a plus. Only use this when you don't have enough energy fr Swift. Swift: This is the great attack you want to use! 50 damage for three energy and no questions asked...that is a good attack! In Modified it can go straight through Scizor's Metal Energy! It can also get through AQ Jumpluff's Fluff. Ledyba: Which Ledyba should you use? The choices are; Neo1 (40HP), Neo4 (40HP), Southern Island (60HP), and 2 Skyridges (40HP) and (50HP). Out of all those choices the best would have to be the SI Ledyba, just because of the 60HP and Agility. The SI Ledyba does have 1 retreat where as the others don't, so keep that in mind. If you can't come across any Southern Island cards where you play or prefer free retreat, then I would highly suggest the Neo1 Ledyba. It has no retreat cost and can Confuse your opponent for only 1 (G) Energy. Bottom Stats: Fire Weakness is typical. In Standard it isn't a huge threat, but in Modified there are Magcargo everywhere. No Resistance, so lets go to Retreat. A Stage 1 with no retreat is pretty nice, so you can retreat him when a big threat comes out. Combos: Meganium (Wild Growth): With this out you can use Swift for 2 Energy, and it will help out all other Pokemon. This would be hard to set up...a Stage 1 and Stage 2. Jungle Scyther: Use Scyther to start of, get a DCE and Grass on him to do damage while setting up Ledian. Standard: 6.5 / 10 With one hit and a Pluspower, he can take out Sneasal. Can take out Murkrow in one hit. He could actually do good in this format with the right cards, but I wouldn't suggest using him here. Modified: 8.5 / 10 This is where Ledian shines I think. He can get through Scizors Metal Energy to do a strait 50 damage, and get through any grass Resistance. The biggest threat here is Magcargo, but you could add Pichu to counter (as long as the Neo is legal). See you next week, and don't forget to vote in the poll for next weeks card.
