Hello I am Trunks, this is my first Card of the Week, and I plan on
doing
more. So I'm going to start things off with my favorite Pokémon, Magmar
from
the Fossil expansion. Magmar is a very solid card, 70 HP for a Basic Pokémon is very nice, and he can also be an effective starter. He doesn't fit in many decks anymore due to the new modified format. But if you were to be playing an unlimited tournament he would be good in decks like Acranine. His first attack reads 1 Fire Energy: Smokescreen: If the defending Pokémon tries to attack during your opponent's next turn, flip a coin. If tails, that attack does nothing. 10 Damage Very nice affect for the cost, and the damage. It can stall your opponent for an extra turn and help build up an Arcanine or any other bigger Pokémon. His second attack reads 2 Fire Energy: Smog: Flip a coin. If heads, the defending Pokémon is now poisoned. 20 Damage 2 Energies, a chance of poison, and 20 extra damage can be painful to any kind of Pokémon. Magmar has 2 very nice and effective attacks that can hurt your opponent. His only downside is his weakness to water. Other than that, one retreat is bad for a Pokémon like this. Well that's about all I have to say, I think I'm gonna to go take a nap now...Later...and remember Magmar OwNz Jo0!!! ^_~ |

This week, Trunks choose the card/s to review. This week he chose his favorite Pokémon...Magmar! And we are now gonna review Fossil Magmar. ~His Top Stats~ His top stats are pretty nice. 70 HP for a Basic Pokémon almost assures that a card is good. Also being a Basic Pokemon is almost always better then being a evo. ~His Attacks~ Magmars Attacks are good starting-out type moves, in other words, don't make him your heavy-hitter. He has lost quite a lot of his playing value too. Back When Gym Heroes/Challenge was out, he was a staple in nearly every tournement winning deck! His first attack, Smokescreen is a nice stall technique while building up other Pokemon. Smog is a very nice attack for the cost you pay. Take out your opponent with ease with this attack. ~His Bottom Stats~ He has a weakness to water, like most fire, but it really doesn't hurt him though. One Retreat is nice for a Basic with these abilities, still I would throw in a Switch or two. ~Rating Time~ THEN Standard/Unlimited: 4.5/5.0 NOW Standard/Unlimited: 2.0/5.0 |
