When you enter the gate between Aspertia City and Route 19 the lady behind the desk gived you a Potion. It will come in handy when wild Pokemon start popping up. Continue north to Route 19 and meet up with Bianca. She explains the ins and outs of catching wild Pokemon, which can be found in grass and caves. Basically, lowering a Pokemon's health increases the chance that it will be caught. If you stack on a status ailment like Paralyzation on top of that, the chances increase even more. Bianca leaves and now it's time to explore. You're starter Pokemon should increase to level 7 after defeating your first Wild Pokemon. At level 7, it learns the first attack of its type. Snivy learns Vine Whip, Tepig learns Ember, and Oshawott learns Water Gun. That means you can take advantage of STAB. STAB stands for Same Type Attack Bonus. This means that if a Water-type Pokemon uses a Water-type attack, the attack will do a little bit more damage because the Pokemon and the move share the same type. If a Grass-type Pokemon used the same move it would not get the attack bonus. Keep that in mind throughout the game to maximize the amount of damage your Pokemon can do.
Head east until you see a guy in orange. There is a Potion right by him. If you answer no to his question, he shows you how to hop down ledges. Ledges usually allow you to walk backwards through a route to avoid wild battles. It will come in handy later. Continue east until a red haired guy stops you. This is Alder, and he was the Elite Four Champion in the first Black and White games. He scopes you out before leaving. Walk east a little further in Floccesy Town.
