Aspertia City Walkthrough - Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 Pokemon Black 2 and White 2: Aspertia City Walkthrough

Black 2 and White 2 start off like every other Pokemon adventure, with a quick explanation from the region's professor. Unova's professor is named Juniper and she shows off a Cinccino while giving some info on the Pokemon world. The first choice in the game is whether you want to play as a girl or a boy. Afterwards, name yourself and your rival.

A quick scene shows all of Aspertia City and a woman walks into your house after taking a call on her XTransceiver. That woman is your Mom. She'll call you over so walk to her using the D-pad. After answering a few questions you'll be free to leave. This is a great time to change your text speed. Press X to access the options menu and choose the fast text option. This makes the game a little quicker. Anyway, once you're outside you can explore Aspertia City. The house to the west doesn't have anything noteworthy inside so head north where your rival Hugh and a little girl introduce themselves. The girl leaves and Hugh follows behind you. Keep moving north past the Pokemon Center, the big red building, until you find a four-way path. There is a house to the east with nothing inside and a path to the west that eventually leads to a girl in a green cap. This is Bianca. Anyone who played Black or White 1 will remember her as the kind-hearted rival that broke away from her over-protective dad. She is now Professor Juniper's assitant. Being such, she is responsible for handing out new trainers their first Pokemon. Talk to her twice and she will offer three Pokemon for you to choose from: Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott.

Snivy is a Grass-type. Serperior, the final evoltion of Snivy, is the fastest of the three starters and also has the best Defense and Special Defense of the three. What it lacks in attacking power it makes up for with attacks that have special effects. Moves like Leech Seed and Giga Drain not only deal damage to the opposing Pokemon, they also replenish the user's health. Serperior is a powerful Pokemon if you don't mind taking a strategic approach to battling.

Tepig is a Fire-type Pokemon. As soon as it evolves into Pignite it becomes a Fire Fighting dual type. In fact, out of the three starters Tepig and its evolutions have the most diverse set of moves that can be learned naturally. It learns Fire, Fighting, Rock, Poison, Normal, and Dark-type moves without the use of TMs or HMs. Emboar's biggest strengths are its HP and Physical Attack, with its Special Attack not too far behind. At level 15 it learns Flame Charge which deals damage and raises its speed one stage. It's a very powerful attack that makes the beginning of the game much easier. Tepig is a great choice if you want to use strong attacks to deal big damage.

Oshawott is a Water-type Pokemon. It has a similar stat distribution to Tepig, except it's more well rounded. It has less HP and attack power than Tepig, but more defensive strength. Samurott, the final stage of Oshawott, has very similar Physical and Special Attack power so you usually can't go wrong with any damaging moves it learns. The Oshawott line has the least number of weaknesses out of the three starters. Oshawott is an good choice for Pokemon beginners and veterans alike.

After choosing your Pokemon and giving it a nickname, go south. Hugh and Bianca talk for a while before you're free to move again. Try to walk down the stairs and Hugh starts your first battle. You will spend a lot of game time in battle so now is a good time to get used to the interface. The top screen displays the action while the bottom screen shows a menu. There are four options: Fight, Bag, Pokemon, and Run. Fight lets you choose a move to attack your opponent with, Bag allows you to use items, Pokemon lets you switch between different Pokemon on your team once you've caught more, and run allows you to escape from battles against wild Pokemon. Despite Hugh choosing the Pokemon with a type advantage against yours, this first battle is very easy because neither Pokemon has a damaging attack other than Tackle. I suggest starting with Tail Whip or Growl once before using Tackle until Hugh's Pokemon is knocked out.
