Episode Guide: 272 Can't Beat the Heat

The episode starts out with Blastoise using Hydro Pump at Heracross. Ash tells Heracross to hide behind the rocks that are on the field. Right as Heracross gets behind a rock, Hydro Pump hits rock and crushes it. Then Heracross gets sent to the end of the field, where he slams into a boulder and is then KO'ed! Gary's cheerleading squad do a cheer, and Misty and Brock discuss how powerful Blastoise is.

Ash then sent out Muk. Gary orders Blastoise to use Skull Bash on Muk, and sends Muk a few feet across the field. For Ash's attack, he orders Muk to use Sludge Bomb, but Gary's Blastoise used Rapid Spin to deflect all of Muk's attack. While still using Rapid Spin, Blastoise went in for an attack on Muk, but Muk then surrounded Blastoise in his own body. Ashes Mom took a photo of it, and immeadiatly after, Blastoise used Hydro Pump to send Muk across the field.

Ash withdrew Muk for his Bayleef, and Gary used Hydro Pump. As an unexpected move, Ash ordered Bayleef to use Vine Whip in order to jump and dodge Hydro Pump! In mid-flight, Ash's Mom took a picture, and Bayleef used Razor Leaf. Blastoise once again Rapid Spin to dodge the attack. Bayleef still being in the air, amazingly, used Body Slam. When she landed on Blastoise, Bayleef's head leaf was bitten on by Blastoise, and she started to get swung around. Blastoise finally threw Bayleef into the wall, and Bayleef fainted. They then let Ash recooperate by giving him a 5-minute break. During the break, Pikachu said he wanted to join the battle, but Ash explained that he can only use the Pokemon he registered. Then it shows Oak and Ash's Mom talking about Gary being the leader, and Ash always being right behind.

The 5-minute break is over, and the battle is once again underway. Ash sent out Snorlax while Gary sent out Arcanine. Gary ordered Arcanine to use Take Down, and Ash sent Snorlax out for a Body Slam. Gary switched Arcanine to dodge Body Slam and counter-attack with a Fire Spin. Arcanine's attack was successful, and Snorlax couldn't move! While still in the Fire Spin, Snorlax used Hyper Beam and KO'ed Arcanine, leaving a great picture moment for Ash's Mom! Gary sent out Nidoqueen, and orders her to use the new trick Gary learned by jumping with her tail! She then Double Kicked Snorlax, and Hyper Beam's. The Hyper Beam is dodged by Snorlax, and he countered with an Ice Punch. Nidoqueen was KO'ed and Gary sent out Scizor to use Quick Attack. After taking a Quick attack, Snorlax uses Hyper Beam for the third time! Scizor easily dodges it and used Metal Claw, KOing Snorlax!

Ash sent out Muk again, and Gary used Quick Attack again. Quick Attack didn't affect Muk, so Ash ordered Muk to use Sludge Bomb. Scizor dodged them and used Metal Claw again, but this time Scizor threw him, then used Swift to finish the job. Ash's final Pokemon he could use is Charizard!

After sending Charizard out, and Scizor used Steel Wing. Before Scizor couldn't pull it off, Charizard used Flamethrower, making Scizor faint. Gary then sent out one of his two remaining Pokemon, Golem!

Golem used Magnitude, and the power of it was high, but Charizard flew in the air while holding Golem to use a Seismic Toss. Being the second heaviest Pokemon, Golem had to be dropped, and Charizard couldn't finish the attack. Golem then used Rollout, and Charizard used Dragon Rage. Charizard's Dragon Rage KO'ed Golem and Gary sent out his final Pokemon...Blastoise! Then it is commercial time, and Who's That Pokemon? the Who's That Pokemon was Bayleef!

Back from Commercial, it is down to Blastoise and Charizard! Ash made Charizard use Flamethrower, while Blastoise used Rapid Spin to deflect the fire. Getting out of his Rapid Spin, Blastoise quickly used Hydro Pump right in the face of Charizard. To get out of the way, Charizard flew in the air and dived towards Blastoise. To counter, Blastoise used a rushing attack, which sent Charizard in the air. Being in the air already, Charizard flew up and Blastoise used Hydro Pump at him a few times. Dodging every one, Charizard used Flamethrower at him uselessly. This went on for a minute until Ash decided to try to melt the field! Charizard kept using Flamethrower on the rock field until it melting. Gary then ordered Blastoise to use Hydro Pump on the melted field, but it just caused a flurry of smoke. Once the smoke cleared, Charizard and Blastoise were clenched to each other by their hands! Ash ordered Charizard to use Dragon Rage, but Blastoise quickly ducked his head into his shell to dodge it. Since that didn't work, Charizard instead took Blastoise into the air. Blastoise used Bite on Charizard as to get him to let go, but Charizard kept flying. Once he reached top altitude, Charizard used Seismic Toss, slamming Blastoise into the ground! Once the smoke cleared from the impact, Blastoise attempted to get up, but couldn't. Ash had won!

Then it switched to show Jesse trying to get her Gym Medal money back from Delibird. Then Meowth figured out that if they keep selling the Medals, then they could become debt free, and still make major money. They then decided to open a chain of the stores selling the Gym Medals! After that, it switches to a lake surrounding, and Gary waiting for something. Ash then appeared, and Gary gave him the other half of the PokeBall that they found when they were little kids. Then Gary explains that Ash deserves it and they have both grown stronger.
