The New Poke-Amph!

Episode 088: Bye, Bye Psyduck

The gang is relaxing on a beach while Pikachu, Togepi and Psyduck take a ride with Lapras. Pysduck falls off, but no one notices until Lapras returns to land. They search for Psyduck, but come up empty handed. Misty is surprisingly worried about Psyduck and Tracy suggests that Psyduck is really Misty's favorite Pokemon. A girl rows by with Psyduck; she caught him while fishing, and returns it to Misty. The girl notices that Psyduck's tail is glowing and she tells Misty that Psyduck is about to evolve! Misty is excited about a new water Pokemon, and it turns out the girl is also a Water Trainer. They decide to have an all Water Pokemon battle, and Misty figures that Psyduck might earn enough experience from the battle to evolve. They fight, the girl using her Tentacruel against Misty's Goldeen. Goldeen gets knocked out, and Starmie gets into the action. Starmie knocks out Tentracruel, so the girl sends out her own Psyduck, which is nothing like Misty's Psyduck. Psyduck knocks Starmie out, and the girl suggests that they both battle their Psyducks. Misty agrees, but her Psyduck's Pokeball is still in her bag. Ash tosses the bag to Misty, but it falls into the water. As Misty pulls it out, she finds a Golduck in the bag! Did her Psyduck evolve? Meanwhile, Team Rocket is spying on them as usual, and see the new blue Pokemon, and decide to steal it. Psyduck and Golduck battle, but before they can get a hit off, Team Rocket bursts onto the beach and washes them away, capturing the girl's Psyduck and Tentacruel, who are too weak from the battle to fight back. The girl demands her Pokemon back, but Team Rocket will only exchange them for Pikachu. Just then, Golduck comes back, blasts Team Rocket with a Hyper Beam, and saves Psyduck and Tentacruel. With their Pokemon back, Misty and the girl fight again. Misty and Golduck win the final round against the girl's Staryu. Misty tells Golduck to return, but when she takes out a Pokeball, Psyduck pops out! Psyduck didn't evolve at all, it was simply sleeping in its Pokeball the whole time! The Golduck Misty was battling with was wild! Golduck spots some girls walking along the beach, and runs off towards them to show off. It was simply showing off for Misty during the battles. But Misty figures Psyduck will evolve anyway, since its tail is glowing like the girl said. Unfortunatly, it seems that the girl didn't know what she was talking about. Misty is disappointed, but the girl cheers her up by telling her she is a good trainer if she could control a wild Pokemon like Golduck. As the group rides off on Lapras, Misty waves goodbye to the girl, promising to battle her again when Psyduck finally evolves.
