Episode 077: Friends to the End
Still depressed from his loss, Ash is moping around in his room in the League Village. Misty tries to cheer Ash up, but he refuses to cheer up. After some proding from his mom and Oak, Ash joins the others and heads down to the stadium to cheer for Richie. Richie fights hard in the sixth round, but he loses. Later on, Ash talks to Richie, who is taking it rather well, and Ash learns that he's been acting like a baby moping around because he lost. Meanwhile, Pikachu and Sparky fall into a pit, as does Ash and Richie when the come to the rescue. Team Rocket appears and snatches Pikachu and Sparky, but the boys use Pidgeotto and Happy to escape the pit and battle Team Rocket, sending them blasting off again. Later on, Ash and the others attend the closing ceremonies. Ash has ranked #16 in the League and has earned a League Badge. Team Rocket plots to sneak into the stadium to steal more Pokemon, but the fireworks from the celebration toast them. The next day, Ash and Richie wish eachother luck and head their separate ways.
