Episode 069: The Ancient Puzzle of Pokemopolis Ash and Brock are having a training session. Pikachu and Vulpix are about to fire powerful attacks at one another when suddenly Jigglypuff appears in the line of fire! Pikachu and Vulpix redirect their attacks at the last second towards the canyon wall, blowing it open, revealing an ancient temple! Ash, Brock and Misty find a strange object in the rubble, when suddenly a girl named Eve appears and snatches it from them. She shows it to her professor and claims she found it, saying its proof of a lost civilization they've been searching for, Pokemopolis! She shows Ash and the rest an ancient tablet from the lost city, decribing a mysterious legend she hasn't been able to figure out yet. The legend, she says, describes two powerful forms of destruction. The Professor enters with another object from the city, which looks like a spoon. When she waves the spoon around in the air, it makes the other object glow, but only Pikachu notices it. That night, when they are all sleeping, Team Rocket sneaks into the camp to plunder the temple. Jessie commands Arbok to burrow in and find the most valuable thing in the temple, but he returns with only a mysterious black rock, which begins to glow. In a flash of light, Arbok disappears and the black rock remains floating in the air! Team Rocket tries to run away, but the rock flashes and freezes them in their steps. As the rock floats closer, giant footprints appear in the riverbank... The next morning, Ash and the rest discover the giant footprints and the black stone appears again, making the professor disappear! Ash and Misty also see Team Rocket is trapped inside. They all make a break for it, but the workers also are trapped within the stone. The monster behind the stones materializes, and its a giant Gengar, who begins to head toward Pallet Town! Ash and Brock try to stop it, but both Onix and Pidgeotto are also trapped inside the stone. Running back to the campsite, they find Eve in a trance, holding the two artifacts. She places the spoon inside the triangle and a bright flash of light comes out and another giant Pokemon appears, an Alakazam! The two giants fight each other in the lake with powerful attacks, and Eve realizes that the tablet she found was a warning; these two were the ones who destroyed Pokemopolis! The two giants approach the small group, freezing them in their tracks, but Pikachu escapes the spell and shocks the lake in which they're standing, but it only diverts their concentration away from Ash and the rest, and they continue fight each other. All seems lost until Jigglypuff shows up again. They get Jigglypuff to sing to the two giants. It almost works, but Jigglypuff isnt loud enough to put the giants to sleep and ends up getting swatted away. But its song stirrs some sort of bell on top of the temple, and it begins to glow and hovers toward the giants and yet another giant Pokemon materializes! And it's a giant Jigglypuff! The Giantpuff uses the bell as a microphone and sings the two giants (as well as Ash and the rest) to sleep. Of course, when it sees they fell asleep, the giant Jigglypuff draws on the giants faces with a paintbrush. In the morning, Eve, Ash and the rest find the three giants gone and Team Rocket and the workers released from the trap. Eve deduces that Jigglypuff was the guardian of the city and continues to search the ruins as Ash continues on with his training.
