Episode 043: Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon

Ash and company arrive at Grandpa Canyon, where they run into Gary once again, who informs them they have found their way to the Great Fossil Hunt. Gary and his cheerleaders head into the canyon to find all the fossils before anyone else as Ash fumes at his arogant rival. As Brock and Misty try to calm Ash down they hear Team Rocket and their plans to blow up Grandpa Canyon and grab the fossils for themselves. Ash and Pikachu rush to stop them and Brock and Misty run to tell everyone to get out of the canyon. Ash arrives too late, Meowth has already lighted the fuse. Calling out Squirtle, Ash chases the fuse while Squirtle tries to put the flame out with its Water Gun. Team Rocket chases after them, but they end up tripping running into Ash, and falling down into the canyon, where they are caught in the blast. Team Rocket, Ash and Pikachu are sent hurtling down a huge hole, which is then sealed up by a rock slide. Squirtle manages to crawl out and tell Brock and Misty what happened, who proceed to try to dig Ash out. Meanwhile, Ash wakes up to find he's trapped with Team Rocket! As they accuse each other of trapping them all, Pikachu notices something in the shadows... fierce Pokemon! Ash identifies the Pokemon as extinct Pokemon. James concludes that these prehistoric Pokemon have been sleeping down under the earth for thousands of years and he and Jessie plot to steal the Pokemon to open up a Prehistoric Pokemon Park. Unfortunatly, their attempts only anger the Pokemon, who chases them throughout the caverns. Ash tries to get Charmeleon to fight, but Charmeleon takes a nap instead, refusing to obey Ash. Suddenly, the Pokemon run away. Jessie and James think they've won, but Meowth hears something coming. An Areodactly flys into the cavern, knocking away Charmeleon as it does. Aerodactyl chases them as Misty, Brock, Jenny and other miners open up the hole they dropped into. Charmeleon decides to battle Aerodactyl, but Aerodactyl knocks Charmeleon out on the first round. Aerodactyl picks up Ash and begins to leave the cavern and Pikachu and Charmeleon grab onto its tail. Aerodactyl flys out of the hole and Pikachu and Charmeleon drop down to Misty and Brock. It looks like Ash is Aerodactyl food when suddenly, Charmeleon throws a fit and begins to glow! Charmeleon evolves into a Charizard. Taking off with its new wings, Charizard chases Aerodactyl. As all that's going on, who should show up but Jigglypuff! Misty tells Jigglypuff to sing its song to put Aerodactyl to sleep. Jigglypuff sings and everyone gets drowsy, except Charizard, who plugs its ears with its claws. Aerodactyl falls asleep and drops the sleeping Ash, who is caught by Charizard. Charizard lands and falls asleep, while Aerodactyl falls back into the hole and hits the cavern floor so hard, the hole caves in again. Ash rolls off Charizard and onto a strange looking egg. Everyone wakes up (after an upset Jigglypuff draws on their faces, of course) and Officer Jenny tells everyone that the prehistoric Pokemon was just an illusion caused by Jigglypuff's song. As they head onward, Ash shows Brock and Misty the egg he found... what could be inside? Meanwhile, Jessie, James and Meowth are still trapped inside the cave with the sleeping prehistoric Pokemon.
